Football pressure gauge specifications
PSI range: Most digital ball pressure monitors cater for 0-15 PSI. Since regulation pressures are typically within this range, most ball gauges have this capacity. However, some gauges handle larger pressures. These are suitable for other balls, such as those used in rugby or volleyball.
Resolution: PSI resolution is the least increment the gauge can read. Most digital gauges can measure pressures to 0.01 PSI. Readings that precise for football are essential, as even tiny increments can impact a ball's feel during play.
Units: Pressure in ball gauges comes in PSI or BAR. Thus, most gauges can show readings in either unit. Units are switchable via a button.
Digital display: Clear, backlit LCD screens show pressure figures. Most LCD screens also display temperature or unit pressure.
Air release valve: Integrated valves help bleed air when a ball is overfilled. Users can control air release using a knob.

How to properly care for a football pressure gauge
Clean the gauge after every match: Clean the gauge's tip gently with a damp cloth to reduce mud accumulation. Never use detergents to clean the tip, as these can get stuck in the ball and affect the air pressure. Also, avoid scrubbing, as this can cause scratches on the tip.
Store correctly: A gauge's tip is the most delicate part, as it directly interacts with the ball. Always store the gauge upright so dust does not accumulate on the tip. Alternatively, cover the tip with a soft cloth when storing it in hard cases. This helps avoid damage to the tip. Also, ensure the ball connector is properly attached to prevent damage to both the connector and the ball valve.
Avoid exposure to direct sunlight: Prolonged exposure can affect both LCD screens and batteries, as heat can cause screens to become inactive or give erroneous pressure readings.
Regular calibration: This ensures the gauge consistently gives precise readings. Calibration typically involves comparing the gauge against a known standard or more sophisticated gauge. It is also essential to occasionally check air paths for blockages.
Check battery levels often: Digital gauges depend on battery power. Users should check battery levels before major events to avoid in-gauge failure. Some digital gauges have low-battery alerts, but users need to remember to check them.
Internal cleaning: Use a blower to remove debris from within the gauge. External cleaners do not reach inside to eliminate thorough ball dust or debris.
